Avant Browser Help - Quick Search

What is the Quick Search feature?

The Quick Search feature allows you to perform searches from the address bar, that would normally require you visit a website first, for example, if you wanted to search for something using the Dogpile.com search engine, you would enter the following into the Quick Search list;

Shortcut: dogpile
URL: http://www.dogpile.com/info.dogpl/search/web/%s

"%s" should be entered into the part of the URL that usually contains the item you are searching for, as in the above example.

Setting up the Quick Search

You can setup your own quick search items by going to Tools > Avant Browser Options > Search Engine, and clicking the Quick Search tab.

To add a new item to the Quick Search list, click Add, and enter the "shortcut" you would like to use for the quick search, press Return (aka Enter), and enter the URL.

Using the Quick Search feature

To use the Quick Search feature, all you need to do is type the shortcut for the item you would like to use, into the address bar, followed by a space, and then the keyword or phrase you wish to search for.
